Quotes of Nelson Mandela – Remembering Nelson Mandela, I’ve collected some great quotes from him. He’s the real hero of all mankind and now he’s no more with us (1918-2013).
Nelson Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. Mandela was born in 1918 in the town of Mvezo in Umtata, Cape Province.
His father was a local tribal chief of the Thembu people and his mother was his father’s third wife. He studied law at Fort Hare University and the University of Witwatersrand, where he became involved with the African National Congress (ANC).
After the ANC’s banning in 1960, Mandela founded Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK), which led a sabotage campaign against the apartheid government. In 1962 he was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment for conspiring to overthrow the state. Mandela served as President from 1994-1999 and has since retired from public life to live in Johannesburg with his family.
Man’s Goodness is a Flame That Can Be Hidden But Never Extinguished.
